Pastor Stefan Burton-Schnüll and his family arrived in Bermuda in August 2006 from England. Pastor Stefan is a native German, but lived in the UK since 1991. There he met his wife Barbara, who is Jamaican-British. They have two children. Stefan attended Newbold College, twice. In 1987 he left Germany to improve his English, and after returning to Germany for two more years, finally moved to England in 1991. Stefan studied Human Biology (BSc, 1994) and Neuroscience (MSc, 1995) at King's College, London. Then in 1997 Stefan returned to Newbold to study Theology. He graduated in 2000 with an M.A. in Religion. That same year he was employed by the South England Conference. Between 2000 and 2006 Stefan served in Brighton, North London, and Gloucester. He was ordained as a Pastor in 2005.

In 2007 Stefan was asked to serve as director of a new department, Intercultural Ministry and Human Relations.

Teaching and preaching are the main passions of Pastor Stefan. He likes to think outside the box, and his gut reaction to the phrase "we've always done it this way" is "then let's change it". Besides that, Stefan likes to use technology and media, such as radio and TV. His passion is to get the good news of salvation in Jesus across to everybody. Bermuda, with its tight-knit community presents a wonderful opportunity for just such a task.

He (and Barbara) have been described as "down to earth", and Stefan takes that as a big compliment. One of his favourite quotes is: "It's amazing what can be accomplished when nobody cares who gets the credit".

What does a pastor do when he is off duty? (Well, technically speaking, pastors are always "on call".) Stefan likes to read, but confesses that he does not always invest enough time and effort to do it justice. He likes photography, checking his facebook page and updating his blog, is a self-confessed movie-holic, enjoys travelling, water sports, and riding motorbikes. And if these things can be linked somehow with preaching the Gospel... even better.
